Following on from the undoubted success of the Sport Changes Life Belfast Classic Basketball series in both 2017 and 2018, Inspirus Sports Ltd has been created to build upon and grow this successful event model.
Inspirus Sports Ltd are very proud to announce that we are launching a new global basketball series with planned events in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Featuring top level US college basketball colleges. Inspirus Sports Ltd will continue a strong partnership with the Sports Changes Life Foundation as our “charity partner.” Inspirus aims to inspire communities on a global stage showing the power of sport to make a significant positive social impact within our communities.
The original Sport Changes Life Foundation events made sporting history in bringing the first Division 1 Collegiate 4 team and 8 team tournaments to Europe in 2017 and 2018. This created a rare sporting opportunity for school children, community groups, clubs and local people to witness high-class sport and entertainment which otherwise can only be seen across the Atlantic.
Gary Lyons the new Inspirus Chief Operating Officer said:
“We are very excited to be taking the Belfast Classic concept to a new level of global audience. We are bringing together an experienced top-level management team and are very much looking forward to developing the series of events with our international partners. The additional host cities will be announced shortly.

The 2020 series of events will feature a high-profile field of NCAA Division 1 schools in a Multi Team Event (MTE), four teams in 2020 and eight in each year after. The tournament will welcome women’s basketball in the future and Inspirus will be making announcements in the coming weeks. Schools who wish to enhance their student, fan and alumni experience will compete over a number of days in our host cities, entertaining the local audiences in competitive league games, while learning about different traditions, cultures and cities to enhance their knowledge of life outside of the United States.

“Sport Changes Life was proud of their ground-breaking achievement of hosting the first and second NCAA division 1 Collegiate basketball events outside the United States in 2017 and 2018. These events in Belfast generated a massive new audience for Collegiate basketball in Ireland. We have spent 2019 seeking a new partner to take our legacy forward and globalise it; whilst retaining at its core the focus of generating funds to enable Sport Changes Life to achieve its charitable goals of improving the lives of young at-risk youth throughout the island of Ireland.
